I originally come from Gloucestershire in the UK and now live and work in Gran Alacant,
just south of Alicante. I have been here for over four years now, and love Spain,
it’s climate, the relaxed way of life, the beautiful beaches and the really wonderful
people here.
I started my working career in 1979 as an electronics engineer, learning about design,
manufacture and repair of electronic components, circuits and machines. In 1986 I
had the opportunity to work for IBM. At the time, IBM was the biggest and most successful
computer company in the world. I started out as a repair technician, based in the
IBM Bristol ServicePoint (or workshop) and worked on personal computers, typewriters,
screens and printers. This was around the time when IBM had just launched the world’s
very first personal computer. After a year of IBM indoctrination, errrr training,
they decided the time was right to release me from the ServicePoint and I became
a field-
IBM’s philosophy and goals were (and still are) incredibly simple. Employ the best people, continuously train and develop those people to provide the very best customer service and technical excellence available. I am really proud of my career in IBM, and I had the opportunity to work with some of the most creative and talented people in the computer industry. I still have many friends and colleagues in IBM.
So why did I leave IBM? Well, as with everything in life, things change over the
years. The job was changing, becoming less technical-
So here I am in Gran Alacant. My aim is to provide all my customer service and technical
skills to my clients here on the Costa Blanca. I always keep up-
